The UAE Declares Independence from OPEC
The United Arab Emirates are a former colony of the British Empire, being granted independence in 1971 along with Bahrain and Qatar. Kuwait had declared independence in 1964. Britain had colonized the region because of oil, having created Saudi Arabia as a consequence of WWI and Israel as a consequence of WWII. The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries is an oil cartel that caters to British and American interests. The Anglo-American Empire’s war for Israel against Iran has hurt the UAE’s economy, so they are declaring financial independence.[1][2]
Qatar left OPEC in 2019.[3]
On April 28, 2026 the UAE published on their government’s news website-WAM- their reasons for leaving OPEC. They state in part,[4][5]
“ABU DHABI, 28th April, 2026 (WAM) -- The United Arab Emirates today announced its decision to exit the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC and OPEC+), effective 1 May 2026. This decision reflects the UAE’s long-term strategic and economic vision and evolving energy profile, including accelerated investment in domestic energy production, and reinforces its commitment to a responsible, reliable, and forward-looking role in global energy markets.

We reaffirm our appreciation for the efforts of both OPEC and the OPEC+ alliance and wish them success. During our time in the organisation, we made significant contributions and even greater sacrifices for the benefit of all. However, the time has come to focus our efforts on what our national interest dictates and our commitment to our investors, customers, partners and global energy markets. This is what we will focus on going forward.”
Which country will be the first to price oil in gold or silver?[6]
Considering that Since 1987 every time that the economy or stocks have gone down, the Fed lowers interest rates to juice the economy- called the Greenspan put- and that the interest rate on 10-year treasuries has risen in response to every Fed funds rate cut since September 2024, we may find out soon.[7]

“It is telling that the United Arab Emirate unveiled the world’s largest silver bar weighing 1,971 kilograms in November 2025 to celebrate their ‘independence’ from the British Empire in 1971. They are literally going to use the silver as collateral for tokens (credit), basing it out of the Dubai Multi Commodities Center.”
