Jubilee
Pope Francis announced that 2025 would be a jubilee year. The jubilee comes from Leviticus 25 and involved debt forgiveness. Considering that Moody’s credit rating agency just downgraded America’s federal debt, this is a good time for debt forgiveness.
Leviticus 25 states, in part,
“The Lord said to Moses at Mount Sinai, ‘Speak to the Israelites and say to them: When you enter the land I am going to give you, the land itself must observe a sabbath to the Lord. For six years sow your fields, and for six years prune your vineyards and gather their crops. But in the seventh year the land is to have a year of sabbath rest, a sabbath to the Lord. Do not sow your fields or prune your vineyards. Do not reap what grows of itself or harvest the grapes of your untended vines. The land is to have a year of rest. Whatever the land yields during the sabbath year will be food for you—for yourself, your male and female servants, and the hired worker and temporary resident who live among you, as well as for your livestock and the wild animals in your land. Whatever the land produces may be eaten.
Count off seven sabbath years—seven times seven years—so that the seven sabbath years amount to a period of forty-nine years. Then have the trumpet sounded everywhere on the tenth day of the seventh month; on the Day of Atonement sound the trumpet throughout your land. Consecrate the fiftieth year and proclaim liberty throughout the land to all its inhabitants.”
The text continues at length and goes into how poor Israelis who sold themselves into slavery can buy their freedom in the jubilee year, and even if they cannot afford their freedom, that they should be set free and their debts forgiven.
On May 9, 2024, Pope Francis issued a papal bull stating,[1]
“16. Echoing the age-old message of the prophets, the Jubilee reminds us that the goods of the earth are not destined for a privileged few, but for everyone. The rich must be generous and not avert their eyes from the faces of their brothers and sisters in need. Here I think especially of those who lack water and food: hunger is a scandal, an open wound on the body of our humanity, and it summons all of us to a serious examination of conscience. I renew my appeal that ‘with the money spent on weapons and other military expenditures, let us establish a global fund that can finally put an end to hunger and favour development in the most impoverished countries, so that their citizens will not resort to violent or illusory situations, or have to leave their countries in order to seek a more dignified life’.
Another heartfelt appeal that I would make in light of the coming Jubilee is directed to the more affluent nations. I ask that they acknowledge the gravity of so many of their past decisions and determine to forgive the debts of countries that will never be able to repay them. More than a question of generosity, this is a matter of justice. It is made all the more serious today by a new form of injustice which we increasingly recognize, namely, that ‘a true “ecological debt” exists particularly between the global North and South, connected to commercial imbalances with effects on the environment and the disproportionate use of natural resources by certain countries over long periods of time’. As sacred Scripture teaches, the earth is the Lord’s and all of us dwell in it as ‘aliens and tenants’ ( Lev 25:23). If we really wish to prepare a path to peace in our world, let us commit ourselves to remedying the remote causes of injustice, settling unjust and unpayable debts, and feeding the hungry.”
Considering that US Federal debt was just downgraded from AAA to AA1 by Moody’s credit rating agency, the USA might be one of those poor countries needing debt forgiveness.[2]
Per CNN,[3]
“Of the three major credit rating agencies, Moody’s was the lone holdout, maintaining its outstanding rating of AAA for US debt. Moody’s held a perfect credit rating for the United States since 1917.
It now ranks US creditworthiness one notch below that, at Aa1, joining Fitch Ratings and S&P, which lowered their credit ratings for US debt in 2023 and 2011, respectively.”
Americans are certainly wasting money by bombing women and children in the Middle East for decades.
Here is a picture of President Trump with the former leader of Al Qaeda in Syria (Al Nusra/HTS), Jolani. Jolani now goes by Ahmad al-Sharaa, after conquering Syria. In the middle is Mohammed Bin Salman, the leader of the country whose citizens mostly carried out 9-11 (while working together with the rest of the Anglo-American Empire).[4]
Say what you will about Osama Bin Laden (the author deployed to Afghanistan in the US infantry to kill his friends), but at least he justified the attack as a response for us for helping Israel bomb Palestinians. The new Al Qaeda protects Israel’s Northern border while Israel bombs Palestinians.[5]
Per the New York Post,[6]
“RIYADH, Saudi Arabia — President Trump said Tuesday he will lift crippling US sanctions against Syria before meeting with the country’s interim President Ahmad al-Sharaa — despite the former Al Qaeda leader having a $10 million American bounty on his head until recently.”
The author thinks that America needs a debt jubilee so that Al Qaeda goes bankrupt.
However, to be fair, Trump did indicate in his speech in Saudi Arabia that the USA would not be executing the foreign policy of President George W Bush (2001-2009).
Per the Times of Israel,[8]
“In recent years, far too many American presidents have been afflicted with the notion that it’s our job to look into the souls of foreign leaders and use US policy to dispense justice for their sins. They loved using our very powerful military.”
Bush said that he looked into Putin’s eyes and saw his soul in June 2001. Bush started the Global War on Terror in response to 9-11-2001.[7]
The author is further optimistic about peace because Vice President JD Vance canceled his planned trip to Israel to instead visit the new Pope, Leo XIV. Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio met the Pope on Monday, after they attended his inaugural mass on Sunday. Ron Paul thinks that the meeting may have been in response to Israel ramping up their murder campaign in Palestine.
Per the Vatican,[9]
“‘Finally, there was an exchange of views on some current international issues, during which hope was expressed that humanitarian law and international law be respected in areas of conflict and that there be a negotiated solution between the parties involved,’ noted the Holy See Press Office.”
Is America’s foreign policy changing as a result of morality or is the leading nation in the Anglo-American Empire facing reality: We’re is broke, and our navy is vulnerable to new missile technology.[10]
Indeed, on March 9, 2025 Politico reported,[11]
“The United States will stop strikes against Yemen’s Houthi group, President Donald Trump announced Tuesday, after a nearly-two-month bombing campaign.
[…]
Trump framed the move as a handshake agreement to end the Pentagon’s bombing campaign in exchange for the Houthis no longer attacking American ships. ‘It’s not a deal,’ he said. ‘They said, Please don’t bomb us anymore and we’re not going to attack your ships.’”
The Houthis are still bombing Israel to defend Palestine. The world is turning upside down.
